One of my favorite parts about using social media to represent FGIA is getting to share “behind the scenes” moments with our followers. Many of our followers are our FGIA members. First and foremost, they are the ones we are working so hard for every week, bringing them the benefits of FGIA membership through dedicated service. But in addition to that, they are the people we look forward to seeing at conferences and catching up with every few months. While they see us hard at work at FGIA events, it’s clear they enjoy seeing us enjoying our time together as staff, too! Our social media posts from Staff Week here at the Schaumburg headquarters got a ton of engagement, and if you read on to see what we did, you’ll see why.

Staff Dinner

FGIA Staff Week kicked off with a dinner at the Westwood, near our offices in the Chicago suburbs. We got to catch up with one another, and Janice delivered a lovely speech welcoming everyone and recognizing several employee tenure milestones celebrated in 2024.

Tour of an Atlas Weathering Services facility

A big thank you to Atlas Material Testing for hosting the FGIA staff! This was a great opportunity for some of our staff to see how weathering tests are conducted – an important facet of the work we do, and one we often hear about but don’t see. Thank you for hosting this lunch and learn!

FGIA Takes Us Out to the Ball Game

We enjoyed an outing as a staff and took in a minor league baseball game and saw an incredible victory by the Kane County Cougars! I’d never been in a suite before for a game, and I have to say, that’s the way to do it, if you can.

A Surprise Staff Awards Ceremony

Janice surprised everyone on the last day of Staff Week by presenting fun, thoughtful awards that were tailored to each member’s role and best abilities. This LinkedIn post shows just how much our members loved getting to see everyone being recognized for what they do best.

What a wonderful week! I look forward to getting to share more fun staff moments during the FGIA Fall Conference in September – this time, with our members!
