FGIA | About Us
On January 1, 2020, AAMA and IGMA unified into one organization, the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance, or FGIA.
Two industry powerhouses came together to form an exponentially stronger alliance. Designed to help all of our members excel in a dynamic and fast-moving future, FGIA is focused on building better industry synergies from glass to framing, as displayed in our organizational structure.
CLARITY OF VISION
FGIA is dedicated to improving home and building performance through better glass, window, door and skylight technology and standards.
We are an inclusive community leading the glass and fenestration industry through:
- consensus-based standards
- product certification
- education and professional development
Leadership works in collaboration with the membership, strongly considering the input and direction given by the members. Keeping the future on the horizon, leadership is focused on developing the strategy and direction of the organization and how to best bring FGIA to that ever-evolving future.
Inclusion: FGIA is an inclusive community where all are welcome.
Equality: We’re a members-led industry leadership association.
Alignment: Our strength is our alliance, focused on the same goals.
Growth: We’re committed to helping the industry and our members grow.
Exponential Value Proposition
The intent for the new alliance is to bring exponential value to members today and even more in the ever-changing future.
WHY FGIA MAKES SENSE
AAMA and IGMA combined the distinct strengths and knowledge of both organizations to better serve the glass and fenestration industries.
“The value of the new organization is a stronger industry voice. By harnessing the intellectual knowledge of professionals from both industries, better synergy for the whole finished fenestration product is available to all members and the industry.”
Donnie Hunter, FGIA Board Immediate Past Chairman
The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) served as the source of performance standards, product certification and educational programs for the fenestration industry. Founded in 1936, AAMA was the leading trade association representing over 300 members producing window, door, skylight, sloped glazing, curtain wall and storefront products and components for both the residential and commercial construction markets across North America.
The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) was the North American association of insulating glass manufacturers, suppliers of component materials and other industry-related professionals dedicated to upgrading product performance by promoting awareness of technological developments in the industry. In 2000, IGMA was created as a result of a successful merger between the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association of Canada (IGMAC) and the Sealed Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association (SIGMA).
