FGIA is organized into six product and four material councils, all of which report to the Board of Directors. The fenestration products represented are architectural, residential, glass, door, skylight/sloped glazing and wall interface and the fenestration materials represented are aluminum, fiberglass, vinyl and wood and cellulosic composites. These councils address technical, regulatory and marketing needs of that market segment.
The Association also supports FENBC, Southeast and Western Regions, which address issues specific to the unique environments and building code requirements in their respective geographic areas.
Product Councils
APC – Architectural Products Council
MISSION: To act as an information provider and promoter of architectural windows, curtain walls and storefronts in the fenestration and related building products industry. It shall also act as a provider of technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing, and certification support to insure that the appropriate standards are established, maintained, and communicated for the benefit of the users and suppliers of architectural window, curtainwall, storefront and sloped glazing products.
Door Council
MISSION: To provide door related technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing and certification support to membership ensuring appropriate standards are established, maintained and communicated for the protection of association membership while coordinating activities with other appropriate door industry organizations. Provide communication link to membership regarding door related industry issues as received from other door trade associations.
GPC – Glass Products Council
MISSION: To lead in establishing and advancing insulating glass and related technologies creating a standard of excellence and providing value to our industry.
SCOPE: Supporting this mission the GPC develops Technical Publications, Standards, Research Projects, Certification Programs, Educational Programs, Marketing, and Liaison with other industry-related groups.
RPC – Residential Products Council
MISSION: To act as an information provider and promoter of residential windows and manufactured housing in the fenestration and related building products industry. It shall also act as a provider of technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing, and certification support to ensure that the appropriate standards are established, maintained, and communicated for the benefit of the users and suppliers of residential window and manufactured housing products.
Skylight/Sloped Glazing Council
MISSION: To act as an information provider and promoter of skylights (including but not limited to unit skylights, sloped glazing, tubular daylighting devices (TDD) and smoke vents) in the fenestration and related building products industry. It shall also act as a provider of technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing, and certification support to ensure that the appropriate standards are established, maintained, and communicated for the benefit of the users and suppliers of skylight/sloped glazing products.
WIC – Wall Interface Council
MISSION: To provide technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing and certification support to AAMA membership in connection with wall interface materials, components and systems.
Material Councils
AMC – Aluminum Material Council
MISSION: To act as an information provider and promoter of aluminum in the fenestration and related building products industry. It shall also act as a provider of technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing, and certification support to ensure that the appropriate standards are established, maintained, and communicated for the benefit of the end users and suppliers of aluminum products.
FMC – Fiberglass Material Council
MISSION: To act as an information provider and promoter of fiberglass in the fenestration and related building products industry. It shall also act as a provider of technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing and certification support to ensure that the appropriate standards are established, maintained and communicated for the benefit of the users and suppliers of fiberglass pultrusions and products.
VMC – Vinyl Material Council
MISSION: To act as an information provider and promoter of vinyl in the fenestration and related building products industry. It shall also act as a provider of technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing, and certification support to insure that the appropriate standards are established, maintained, and communicated for the benefit of the users and suppliers of vinyl products.
WCCMC – Wood and Cellulosic Composite Material Council
MISSION: To provide wood related technical, regulatory, legislative, marketing and certification support to AAMA membership ensuring appropriate standards are established, maintained and communicated for the protection of association membership while coordinating activities with appropriate industry organizations. Provide communication link to membership regarding related industry issues as received from other trade associations.
