What Is Wood & Cellulosic Composite Material?

Wood and cellulosic composite material is used in the fenestration industry for the construction of windows, doors, and other building components. This material combines the natural aesthetic appeal of wood with the enhanced durability and lower maintenance requirements of composite material. Solid woods, such as pine, oak, cedar, and mahogany may be used, and also engineered wood products, such as plywood, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), and oriented strand board (OSB). Cellulosic composites are created when wood and/or other natural fibers are mixed with binding materials, and can include wood-plastic composites (WPC), fiber-reinforced polymer composites (FRP), and cellulosic fiber composites.
