Become a Non-Certified Installer

Non-Certification participants are individuals who are interested in participating in installer training and certification classes sponsored by an InstallationMasters® accredited instructor for knowledge purposes only. They are typically not involved in product installation, are not seeking certification and do not wish to take the certification exam.

Online Recertification

Individuals participating in an InstallationMasters Training and Certification Program class sponsored by an InstallationMasters accredited instructor must fill out and submit the registration form along with the following registration materials to the accredited instructor who will be teaching the class.

Registration Steps:

Step 1: Review the list of upcoming classes on our site. If none of these classes meet your needs, contact one of our Accredited Instructors for specific requests.

Step 2: Complete the applicable registration form and submit to your instructor with payment information.

Step 3: The instructor will submit all of the class information to FGIA for processing (approximately two to four weeks prior to the class date). FGIA staff will send each participant a registration confirmation email once the class is confirmed.

Virtual Participants

If you are participating in a virtual class, FGIA staff will send an email with your login confirmation and instructions on how to schedule the exam in the Learning Center at least a week prior to the class.

Programs & Curriculum

There are currently three separate segments of the InstallationMasters program available which are listed below, each of which address water management, installation materials and components, installation practices for various fenestration frame styles and shapes, job site safety, product performance and operator types, and more through classroom training.

Note: Upon request, Spanish versions of the certification exam can be provided. All other training materials, including the manual, are currently only available in English.

Combined Training & Certification Program

Released in 2021, and previously referred to as the Original program, this updated combined segment covers both new construction and replacement window and door installation, and is based on:

  • AAMA 2400-10Standard Practice for Installation of Windows with a Mounting Flange in Open Stud Frame Constructions for Low Wind/Water Exposure
  • AAMA 2410-13Standard Practice for Installation of Windows with an Exterior Flush Fin Over an Existing Window
  • ASTM E2112Standard Practice for Installation of Exterior Windows, Doors and Skylights
  • FMA/AAMA 100-12Standard Practice for the Installation of Windows with Flanges or Mounting Fins in Wood Frame Construction for Extreme Wind/Water Conditions
  • FMA/AAMA/WDMA 500-16Standard Practice for the Installation of Mounting Flange Windows into Walls Utilizing Foam Plastic Insulating Sheathing (FPIS) with a Separate Water-Resistive Barrier (WRB)
  • FMA/AAMA/WDMA 2710-20Guidelines for the Full Frame Replacement of Windows without Removal of External Brick Veneer

Installers complete a two-day class and written exam to become certified. For instructors, a five-day class and written exam are required.

The Original Program training materials have been sunset as of July 1, 2021.

Replacement Training & Certification Program

Released in 2017 and updated in 2020, this segment focuses on replacement and retrofit applications, and the content is based on:

  • ASTM E2112Standard Practice for Installation of Exterior Windows, Doors and Skylights
  • AAMA 2410-13Standard Practice for Installation of Windows with an Exterior Flush Fin Over an Existing Window

Installers complete a one-day class and written exam to become certified. For instructors, a four-day class and written exam are required.

New Construction Training & Certification Program

Released in 2019, this segment focuses on new construction window and door installation, and the content is based on:
