It has been a particularly long winter, with snow days approaching the double digits here in the Mid Ohio Valley where I live, but there is light at the end of the tunnel! And, as is the case each spring, with warmer weather comes this reminder to parents: Screens are meant to keep bugs out, not to keep kids in. This is just one of many pieces of advice offered by the Window Safety Task Force. This industry group takes the time each year to share resources and tips every spring to commemorate Window Safety Week, the first full week of April. In 2025, that means Window Safety Week will be recognized April 6-12.

Use these weeks before that time to download Window Safety Week resources and share them on social media. If you have a social media scheduling tool, schedule your posts now so you’re ready for Window Safety Week. Window Safety Week serves to raise awareness of what parents and caregivers should do to help keep their homes and families safer from the risk of accidental falls or injuries through windows. On the Window Safety Task Force social channels, posts are tagged with either #WindowSafety or #WindowSafetyWeek. Accounts will be sharing window safety tips throughout Window Safety Week, so be sure to follow and share with your own followers. And don’t forget to tag the WSTF in your posts, too.

To help teach kids about window safety, an activity book is available that includes information for parents and caregivers. The Window Safety Week Tool Kits for both window companies and media outlets are evergreen, so they can be used each year. They are available for complimentary download, along with a helpful Window Safety Tips infographic. A gallery of downloadable images pertaining to Window Safety Week can also be found on Flickr and can be used by anyone for the purposes of promoting this cause.
