Great news on the education front! You can now register for FGIA’s very popular annual in-person IG Fabricators Workshop, taking place November 7-9 at the Intertek testing facility in Plano, TX. Last year, we had to have a waitlist because so many people in the industry wanted to register for this workshop. Register early to make sure you get a seat at the table for this unique educational session.

The IG Fabricators Workshop, led by industry experts, has addressed best practices for the most important aspects of fabricating and testing IG units. The well-attended program covers topics such as cleaning, cutting and handling glass, desiccants, sealants, gas fill, frost point and more. Plus, this workshop gives you the opportunity to get face time with others in the industry throughout the two and a half day training. Sign-up for the social event for an opportunity to unwind with other participants in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Since its launch in 2016, the IG Fabricator Workshop has hosted more than 300 practitioners of the IG industry. Typical modules for the workshop include:

  • Glass cutting and washing
  • Spacer and IG fabrication
  • Sealants, hot melt sealant, sealant adhesion and butterfly test
  • Volatile fog
  • Gas filling and measurement, plus frost point
  • Desiccants and desiccant matrix
  • Forensic investigation of IGU failures

Now in its seventh year, FGIA is reflecting on how far we’ve come since the program’s inception. We want to acknowledge a major contributor to the success of the workshop, Bill Briese. We are thankful for his significant impact as a representative of GED Integrated Solutions prior his passing in 2022. In Bill’s honor, FGIA has founded the Bill Briese Educational Engagement Grant Program - a company-focused grant aimed at extending education opportunities, building engagement within FGIA, expediting integration into the industry and furthering professional growth and advancement. This program is a wonderful extension of the impact Bill had on the workshop and the industry.

If you are an FGIA member, you can get a discount on this workshop for yourself as well as others at your company. The registration fee for FGIA members is $890, although subsequent registrations at the same company can be added for $855 per person. Non-members can register for a fee of $990.
