Reprising her presence on the Top Glass West stage, Roberts will help participants navigate the shifting sands of Canadian building codes and international glass and glazing standards. Those attending the event will receive valuable updates from inside the committees making the rules the industry follows, including:
- Canada’s first code limit on allowable interior heat in the British Columbia (BC) Building Code
- New limits on solar heat gain in the National Building Code
- The shutdown of the Canadian General Standards Board and what that means for glass standards in Canada
- A preview of proposed changes for the 2030 cycle, including changes to
- Wired glass rules
- Window opening control devices and
- the addition of prescriptive compliance pathways in Tier 2 of the National Energy Building Code
- Proposals to add affordability considerations to code changes
About the Speaker
Amy Roberts leads FGIA’s Canadian codes and regulatory initiatives with a focus on building and energy codes, standards development and industry advocacy. In her role, she also supports the FGIA FENBC Region, working closely with stakeholders to represent industry interests at both regional and national levels. With more than 25 years of experience in glass and insulating glass (IG) manufacturing, as well as residential and commercial window production, Roberts brings deep technical expertise and strategic insight to advancing the Canadian fenestration and glazing industry.
