Membership Eligibility Requirements

Corporate Membership

Businesses involved in the manufacture, sale or service of fenestration or glass products may apply for Corporate Membership according to one of the following classifications:

  • Fenestration Producer: Companies with a primary business of manufacturing windows, doors, skylights, curtain walls and storefronts.
  • Insulating Glass Producer: Companies with a primary business of manufacturing IG units.
  • Fenestration Component Producer: Companies with a primary fenestration business of providing non-glass components or equipment to Fenestration Producers (excludes Insulating Glass Producers and Primary Glass Producers).
  • Primary Glass Producer: Companies with a primary fenestration business of producing float or other raw glass.
  • Insulating Glass Component Producer: Companies with a primary fenestration business of providing components or equipment in the construction of insulating glass. This could include custom tempered glass manufacturers.
  • Service Provider: Companies with a primary business of providing services to the fenestration industry. This could include dealers, distributors, engineering firms, commercial glazing contractors, equipment manufacturers and software providers.
  • Auditing/Testing Agency: Companies with a primary business of providing testing of fenestration, insulating glass, and glass products, or related components must hold an AAMA Accreditation and maintain that testing in more than 50% of their business.

Individual Membership

Three types of Individual Membership are available — Professional, Technical Consultant, and Educator/Student.

Individual Professional Membership

Any person involved in the design, specification, engineering, construction/renovation, or code compliance inspection of buildings and/or fenestration products and/or related components and accessories is eligible for Individual Membership.

Members must maintain a professional engineer (P.E.), registered architect/specifier, builder/remodeler, government/code official and/or other similar qualifying state license to be eligible.

Candidates may not be eligible for, or employed by, a person, firm or corporation engaged in business activities as defined under Corporate Membership. Any candidate employed by a company with more than half of its business involving fenestration testing (laboratory or field testing) is not eligible for Individual Membership. Their company must meet the eligibility requirements for a member under Corporate Membership for an auditing/testing agency and must join as such.

Individual Technical Consultant Membership

Any person providing technical consulting services to construction industry professionals, building or homeowners, and/or manufacturing businesses related to the fenestration or construction industry and/or installation firms working in the residential or light commercial markets is eligible for Technical Consultant Membership.

Candidates may not be eligible for, or employed by, a person, firm or corporation engaged in business activities as defined under Corporate Membership. Any candidate employed by a company with more than half of its business involving fenestration testing (laboratory or field testing) is not eligible for Individual Membership. Their company must meet the eligibility requirements for a member under Corporate Membership for an auditing/testing agency and must join as such.

Individual Educator/Student Membership

Any person that is a student or professional employed by a nationally recognized academic institution in an instructor or research capacity. If the individual is employed by a company eligible for another membership type, the individual would be ineligible for the Educator/Student membership type.
