The webinar, held on Thursday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. Central, is available to FGIA members and provided details on the related Section 46 Notice and the mandatory information gathering that obligates companies on the quantities and types of plastic they place in the Canadian market. This session was led by George Kendros, Unit Head in the Plastics Regulatory Affairs Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). This session was moderated by Amy Roberts, FGIA Director of Canadian and Technical Glass Operations.

About Our Speaker: George Kendros is a Unit Head in the Plastics Regulatory Affairs Division at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). George’s team leads the development of the policy and the IM/IT system for the Federal Plastics Registry. He has also been involved in several other plastics initiatives at ECCC, including the development of the Single-use Plastics Prohibition Regulations. George’s first position in the federal public service at Health Canada, before joining ECCC where he first worked for the Chemicals Management Plan for 3 years before joining the plastics team. George holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario.

About Our Moderator: Amy Roberts is the Director of Canadian and Technical Glass Operations for the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA). In this role, Roberts recommends and implements strategies to address critical issues in the Canadian market relative to fenestration and glass products and keeps the pulse of Canadian residential and commercial construction market trends. Her key focus is the needs of Canadian fenestration and insulating glass companies.

Roberts oversees the FGIA FENBC Region, particularly member services and technical and business operations. She communicates regularly with members to identify residential and commercial topics of interest and works to effectively address those topics via presentations at regional events, webinars, standards and more. She also maintains strong relationships with government officials and local organizations in BC to further the objectives of the FENBC Region.
