As of January 1, 2020, the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) unified to form Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA).

Our goal is to help companies and individuals differentiate themselves and increase their credibility by offering their customers the benefit of employees who have gained a well-rounded education on the fenestration and glazing industry.

AIA-Approved Education

FGIA, an AIA-approved continuing education provider and the leading trade association in the fenestration industry, has been offering continuing education since 2000. AIA members are required to earn 18 continuing education learning units each year. This includes 12 hours of coursework in Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) topics. Plus, several states have established their own continuing education requirements for licensed architects, many of which recognize AIA credits. FGIA offers multiple options to obtain these credits.

Contact AIAEducation@fgiaonline.org for more information on these courses.

FenestrationMasters

FGIA offers a nationwide program for professionals in the glass, window, door, skylight, curtain wall and storefront manufacturers, suppliers and test lab industries. The FenestrationMasters® program provides training content based on consensus-based AAMA standards. To gain the FGIA FenestrationMasters professional certification, the curriculum and certification exam must be completed. The required coursework covers a wide range of subject matters including performance standards, product and material types and code requirements.

The Program offers one module monthly for twelve months, via online webinar/broadcast. Learn more here.

Preventing IG Failures

The Preventing Insulating Glass Failures educational seminar was developed by subject-matter-experts for the benefit of continuing education for the industry. The individual sessions are topic specific and offers participants a “Do’s and Don’ts” best practices approach for the manufacture of quality insulating glass units. This program includes 13 video presentations accessible online, as well as handouts from each presentation.

Webinars

This program provides a convenient vehicle for communicating important FGIA and industry messages to members and non-members. A webinar is generally offered every month, except for months featuring FGIA conferences, covering topics ranging from FGIA programs and services to marketing, website and social media guidance to industry issues including U.S. and Canadian codes and regulations, trade tariffs, product performance under hurricane conditions, market size analysis and sustainability.
