You’ve probably seen local news reports about children who were injured (or worse) during accidental window falls in recent weeks. This is a terrible, and preventable, safety issue of which the fenestration industry is all too aware. With this topic so prevalent in the news, it’s never been more important to ensure your customers have a positive experience with your products.
The Window Safety Task Force makes this easy by providing everything you need. This industry group takes the time each year to share resources and tips in spring to commemorate Window Safety Week, the first full week of April. In 2026, that means Window Safety Week will be recognized April 5-11.
Window Safety Week serves to raise awareness of what parents and caregivers should do to help keep their homes and families safer from the risk of accidental falls or injuries through windows. To get this important information to your customers, take time today to download Window Safety Week resources. If you have a social media scheduling tool (like HootSuite or SocialPilot), schedule your posts now so you’re ready for Window Safety Week.
For updates throughout Window Safety Week, follow the Window Safety Task Force (WSTF). Tips will be shared each day and can easily be reposted to your own social accounts. Posts are tagged with either #WindowSafety or #WindowSafetyWeek. And don’t forget to tag the WSTF in your posts, too.
The Window Safety Week Tool Kits for both window companies and media outlets are evergreen, so they can be used each year. They are available for complimentary download, along with a helpful Window Safety Tips infographic. A gallery of downloadable images pertaining to Window Safety Week can also be found on Flickr and can be used by anyone for the purposes of promoting this cause.
You can easily access all these resources in one place at FGIAonline.org/windowsafety. FGIA, as a founding member of the Window Safety Task Force, appreciates all efforts to get the word out about this important, but sometimes overlooked, child safety concern. Social media makes sharing links and tips with homeowners and customers incredibly easy, and I’m happy to help if you need suggestions on how to spread the word.
