At FGIA, we often get questions from members who would like to engage more with the alliance’s work. It can be overwhelming to find a place to start. When it comes to shaping the industry’s future and making your voice heard, FGIA can help you ensure your company’s needs and interests are represented. The majority of the work, including document creation and revision, takes place within FGIA’s many committees and task groups. As an FGIA member, once you find a committee working on a topic of interest, you can request to join and have a hand in the group’s work. So where do you start?

Fortunately, FGIA recently created two short video tutorials on this subject. The first one provides details on how to access committee/task group meeting and conference call information located within email notices.

The second video explains how to join FGIA committees and task groups on the FGIA website.

As you may know, at FGIA, our mission is to improve home and building performance through better glass, window, door, and skylight technologies and standards. We are the source for performance standards, product certification, and educational programs for the fenestration and glazing industry. Getting involved with committee and task group work is the best way to influence change.

To find a task group or committee currently working on standards or other projects, browse the FGIA Meetings section of each edition of FGIA e-News, sent monthly. Here you will find the groups that met the previous month, with links to those group’s on the FGIA website. You will also find information about each group, plus its most recent meeting minutes, can be found.

Have any other questions about getting involved? Comment below, or email Committees@FGIAonline.org for assistance.
